The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in certain cases resort to imposing sanctions to maintain or restore international peace and security. The UNSC therefore publishes a consolidated list including the names of individuals and entities listed by each sanctions committee as well as information concerning the specific measures that apply to each listed name.
The United Arab Emirates, as a member state of UN, is committed to implement UNSC sanctions and also publishes its own national sanctions list, pursuant to law No. 7 of 2014, including the names of individuals and entities that are identified as posing a threat to the country and/or based on request from another country. This is done in compliance to the enlisting standards stipulated under UN resolution 1373 (2001).

Contents of the consolidated list
The Consolidated List includes all individuals and entities subject to measures imposed by the Security Council. The inclusion of all names on one Consolidated List is to facilitate the implementation of the measures.

Change In Lists
to keep abreast of all updates to the UN sanctions list (enlisting/delisting individuals/entities and implementation of decisions). To guarantee implementation of such resolutions, the Executive Office of the Committee for Commodities Subject to Import and Export Control notifies all involved agencies about any updates to the UN consolidated sanctions list electronically.

Composition
The Consolidated List consists of two sections, specified below:
- Individuals
- Entities and other groups
Individuals are listed alphabetically by their names as it appears in Latin script. Entities are also arranged in alphabetical order. Narrative summaries of reasons for listing, where available, can also be found on the respective Committees’ webpage.
Identifiers
The Consolidated Sanctions List has several identifying fields. Where information is lacking, the letters "na" (not available) denote that the Committee has not yet been able to obtain it. Explanations of the fields are provided below.
Individuals
Permanent reference number: indicate which sanctions regime concerns respective names, for example, permanent reference numbers starting with “QD” refer to the Al-Qaida Sanctions regime whereas permanent reference numbers starting with CF refer to names listed under the Security Council sanctions regime concerning the Central African Republic. The following letter “i” refers to individuals and “e” to entities (kindly see the table below).

UAE National List of Terrorist Individuals and Entities
In compliance with UN Security Council resolution No. 1730/2006 and pursuant to UAE Federal Law No. 7 of 2014, the UAE publishes the National Sanctions List containing the names of individuals and entities identified as terrorist and associated with proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
