EOCN takes part in the 9th Review Meeting of the States Parties to the BWC

The Executive Office for Control and Non-Proliferation (EOCN) has participated in the ninth review meeting of the States Parties to the Convention on the Prohibition, development, production, use, acquisition, transfer, stockpiling and use of biological and toxin weapons, which is taking place at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva.

In a statement at the conference, Mr. Saeed Al Mahrizi, Deputy Director for International Affairs at the Executive Office for Control and Non-Proliferation, said that the UAE affirms its full compliance with all obligations undertaken under the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), and is working to update national legislations on an ongoing basis to be compatible with what is stipulated in international treaties and conventions.

The review meeting, which is organized every five years, aims at promoting the implementation of the provisions of the Convention, urging support for peaceful scientific cooperation, promoting the principle of transparency, exchanging of information and emerging technologies, and striving for the universality of the Convention.
