THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE HOLDS A PRIVATE SECTOR WORKSHOP ON COMBATING THE PROLIFERATION OF WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION

The Executive Office of the Committee for Goods and Material Subjected to Import and Export Control held; on the first Sunday of November; a workshop entitled “Counter Proliferation Financing”, where certain private sector financial institutions, businesses and non-financial professions concerned have been invited to participate in the event.

The workshop aims at raising the level of awareness and knowledge in the methodology for implementing Cabinet Resolution No. 20 of 2019 on Terrorism Lists Regulation and Implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions on the Suppression and Combating of Terrorism, Terrorist Financing and Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Related Resolutions. The session is also centered on clarifying the expected roles and explaining the procedures for dealing with those included in the Security Council sanctions lists and domestic terrorism lists issued by the Council of Ministers. This is also to raise the level of compliance in line with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) methodology.
