A delegation from the Executive Office for Control and Non-Proliferation (EOCN), headed by His Excellency Talal Al Teneiji, Director of the Office, has participated in the 29th Asian Export Control Symposium, held in Tokyo, Japan, February 14-16.

The seminar has discussed the key issues and updates on the development of national export control systems in Asian countries and advances in the implementation of export controls in the participating countries, which enable them to control their exports effectively and in accordance with internationally recognized principles and standards.

A worksheet has been presented by the EOCN delegation, including the measures taken by the UAE towards its commitment to the Treaty on the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction and the Non-Proliferation of Biological and Chemical Weapons as well as the adopted procedures of granting permits for the import and export of dual-use technologies in this context, considering the list of prohibited and restricted materials approved by the UAE Cabinet.

On the sidelines of the seminar, the delegation has held a series of meetings, most notably visiting the UAE Embassy in Tokyo and exchanging expertise and experiences with the participating countries and the task forces concerned with export control. This is for enhancing cooperation and partnership in capacity building and achieving compliance in the flow of trade by opening channels for the exchange of information.
