UAE and Morocco share experience in Counter-terrorism, Arms Proliferation and Financing

A delegation from the Executive Office for Control and Non-Proliferation (EOCN), headed by Mr. Rashed Al-Mannai, Director of Targeted Financial Sanctions Department, met with members of the National Committee in charge of implementing the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council in the Kingdom of Morocco, represented by Mr. Hisham El Malaty, Director of Criminal Affairs and Amnesty and Supervising President of the National Committee. The session is part of the framework of cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of implementing targeted financial sanctions.

During the gathering, which was held in Rabat, participants have reviewed the experiences of the two sides in the field of applying targeted financial sanctions in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, particularly the effective implementation of the measures to immediately freeze funds and properties of persons, organizations or entities listed on domestic terrorist lists and Security Council sanctions list. This is besides the mechanisms and procedures adopted to ensure the optimal implementation of the obligations of persons subject to such measures from the financial sector and Designated Non-financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs).

The two sides also discussed prospects for partnership and capacity building, and ways to strengthen joint cooperation in the field of implementing targeted financial sanctions, combating terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their financing in accordance with adopted international best practices.
