EOCN Meeting- Review of best practices in export control of armored vehicles

In partnership with the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) and the EU P2P (Partner-to-Partner) Export Control Programme, the Executive Office for Control and Non-proliferation (EOCN) has held discussion sessions aimed at exchanging experiences and reviewing the best practices in the control of exports of armored vehicles, during the period from 23 to 25 April. The discussions were joined by a delegation of government institutions in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan concerned in the control of trade in goods, representatives from the Ministry of Defense, Security Industry Regulatory Agency, and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) in the UAE.

 

In his speech opening the meeting, H. E. Talal Al Teneiji, EOCN Director, expressed the UAE's efforts in strengthening the export control system and compliance with relevant international standards. Al Teneiji has also praised the role of the European Union and the BAFA office for their support to projects and programs in the region that enhance the improvement of export controls, including armored vehicles, and in other areas at the legislative and enforcement levels, and pointed out that partnerships at the national, regional and international levels, adopting best practices and adhering to the requirements of international conventions are one of the most important main pillars for achieving compliance in Export control. “This also contributes to the development and comprehensive development and enhances the inputs of the economy”, he added.

 

The sessions included valuable contributions from officials and experts on the methods used in controlling the exports of armoured vehicles and exchanging experiences and practices in this field, which contributed to enhancing the level of awareness and capacity building of participating institutions.

 

This meeting is part of a series of programs organized by the EOCN Office to review experiences and best practices to achieve the expected compliance in export control.
