THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF COMMITTEE FOR GOODS TAKES PART IN NUCLEAR NON-PROLIFERATION FORUM

The Executive Office of Committee for Goods & Material Subjected to Import & Export Control has participated in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Forum, organized by the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) under the title "Challenges and Opportunities in the 21st Century."
The forum; which was attended by a selected group of national and international speakers and experts; has covered issues related to nuclear non-proliferation, import and export controls, and the assessment of relevant regulations and practices.
In the opening speech of the forum, H.E. Talal Al-Teneiji, Director of the Executive Office said:
"The commitment to non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and compliance with control requirements is one of the key strategic directions of the UAE and is an integral part of the UAE’s peaceful nuclear energy program. We therefore emphasize the importance of the role of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) as one of the leading government institutions to regulate the nuclear sector in the UAE for peaceful purposes and achieving safety, nuclear security and prevention, in addition to licensing workers in the sector and monitoring nuclear materials."
His Excellency Al-Teneiji added, "In view of the aspects of partnership between the Executive Office of Committee for Goods and FANR, we would like to stress the importance of promoting our close cooperation in ensuring the movement of strategic dual-use goods through the immediate and continuous sharing of information and data on business transactions in this area. This cooperation is not limited to the exchange of information but also to contribute to the implementation of joint training programs and exchange of experiences between specialists in both sides, in addition to sharing the great interest in raising awareness of the government sector on commitments and best practices in securing this vital sector."
For his part, Mr. Ahmed Al Falasi, Head of Targeted Financial Sanctions at the Executive Office of Committee for Goods has reviewed; during the Forum sessions; the UAE's actions in implementing targeted financial sanctions and combating sanctions evasion. He has also clarified the role of the Executive Office as a national coordinator in implementing targeted financial sanctions and the adopted mechanism of action in this field, as well as reviewing notifications system, patterns of sanctions evasion, and the national efforts in combating terrorism and proliferation.
